Steger, Walter J. Age 92 Waterford January 27, 2009. Born in Milwaukee August 13, 1916 son of late Alois and Edna (nee. Eisold) Steger. Early life spent in Milwaukee where he attended Vocational School for line and type setting education along with Printing. Walter married Beulah L. Quarne on September 18, 1937 and on August 14, 1943 he joined the U.S. Army where he was a Chief Radar Operator in Palau, with honorable discharge January 4, 1946. Walter was very proud of his service to his country. He returned to work at Milwaukee Journal where he was a typesetter and he retired in 1976. He was a member of Milwaukee Journal Retirement Club. Walter loved his daily routine, including reading the Journal. He and his wife Beulah loved to travel; Hawaii was one of their many favorite destinations. Survived by one daughter: Sharon Mueser of Dallas, Texas, One granddaughter Sharon Jaskie of Waterford, three great-grandchildren: Kim, Leah and Calvin Jaskie. Also survived by one sister: Hariett Bromberg of Germantown, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Beulah, sisters: Angenette and Dorothy, Brothers: Raymond, Alois and Clarence “Sunny” Steger, along with one grandson-in-law: Craig Jaskie.
