Mrs. Vicki Sandvig

June 14, 1947 — December 22, 2009

Sandvig, Vicki L. Age 62 of Village of Rochester passed away peacefully at home Sunday December 20th surrounded by her loving family after a courageous long battle with Leukemia. Vicki was born June 14, 1947 in Ashland, WI, the daughter of the late Cecil and Helen (nee. Heckathorn) Albertson. She later moved to Eau Claire, WI, where she was a graduate of an Eau Claire High School. She later attended Gateway Technical College where she graduated with Honors in 1983 with a degree in Computer Electronics. On June 22, 1968 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Eau Claire she married Gene Sandvig. The couple moved to Racine, and in 1997 settled in the Town of Rochester, now known as the Village of Rochester. Vicki’s second home was her church, a long time member of Norway Lutheran Church where she proudly helped with the Altar Guild, sang in the Choir, worked within the Quilters group and helped with the Church’s kitchen running the Lutefisk dinner and many funeral lunches. She and her husband Gene were delegates for Norway Lutheran Church for many Synod meetings. Vicki was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She loved music, arts and crafts and was considered by her friends to be very creative. She spent much time studying genealogy and history in general along with keeping up on politics. Vicki loved to travel and vacation to anywhere in Wisconsin. Survived by loving husband Gene, Two Children: Eric (Melissa) Sandvig of Burke, New York and Andrea Fay of Rochester. Five Grandchildren: Anthony Fay, Michael Sandvig, Jacob Sandvig, Samuel Fay and Joshua Fay. Three Sisters: Cheryl (Michael) Bean of Menomonee, WI, Diane (Michael) Paulsrud of Eau Claire, WI and Linda Shay of Bloomer, WI along with one brother: John Albertson of Eau Claire. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Her parents preceded Vicki in death. Funeral Services Wednesday, 10:00 AM, December 23, 2009 at Norway Lutheran Church, 6321 Heg Park Road in Wind Lake with Reverend Kristie Jaramillo officiating. Burial in the church cemetery following services Wednesday. Visitation IN CHURCH Tuesday December 22, 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the RED CROSS please, in memory of all of those in South East Wisconsin that gave generously the gift of life for Vicki. The family encourages all that can, to continue to please give the gift of life.
