Mrs. Tricia Ann Schmidt

Schmidt, Tricia Ann (nee. Dykstra) age 64, of Wind Lake, passed away peacefully on Friday July 14, 2017 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Tricia was born in Racine, Wisconsin on March 8, 1953, the daughter of John and Evelyn (nee. Petersen) Dykstra. In her early life, Tricia enjoyed spending summertime with her family on Browns Lake, and Waubeesee Lake. She was a UW graduate of Whitewater with a degree in Education. Tricia was a passionate teacher for 42 years, most recently working with special needs children at Waterford Evergreen School. On April 13, 2004 in Barbados she married Dean John Schmidt. The couple had lived on Waubeesee Lake the past few years. She will be sadly missed by her family, co-workers, and friends
Tricia is survived by her husband Dean, children: Damon Dean Schmidt, Megan (Adam) Blevins, Ryan (Kristen) Dembroski and Matthew (Heather) Dembrowski; her father: John “Don” Dykstra, grandchildren: William, Gunnar, Peyton and Colton Blevins, Silvana Schmidt, and Elaine Dembroski; sisters and brothers: Donna (Frank) Manfredi, Jamie (Phil) Hueja, Marcy (Kyle) Groter, John (Julie) Dykstra, Don (Margie) Dykstra and Ann (Patrick) Kerkhoff; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother: Evelyn Dykstra.
Per Tricia Ann’s wishes no services will be held. A Private memorial party will be held. Family suggests memorials be given to either “Autism Society of America” 4340 East West Hwy Suite 350, Bethesda, MD 20814, or “Down Syndrome Foundation” 17186 Daniel Lane, Eden Prairie, MN 55346.
