Theresa M. Smith

Smith, Theresa M., passed gently into the loving arms of the Lord at the age of 105 on Monday, July 29, 2013 after waiting patiently for 51 years to be reunited with her beloved and loving husband, Orrin L. Smith, Sr. From the moment that she lost Orrin, Sr. in April, 1962, she devoted herself to giving care to many people who were in need of help in any way. She also volunteered at Burlington Hospital in any way they could use her services. Theresa continued her volunteer work until age 92 reluctantly forced her to retire. She was a longtime member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Waterford, WI and the Christian Mother Society, serving a term as it's President. She spent years heading up the crews that created and served the famous St. Thomas Friday Fish Fry. Theresa is survived by her son: Orrin L. Smith, Jr. and his wife: Jean (Wolfenden) Smith, her daughter: Joyce Hoppe, grandchildren: Gerald (Susy) Smith, Edward, Timothy (Judy) Smith, Robert (Claire) Smith, Mary Jo (Ron) Friedrich, James (Diane) Hoppe, Jeff (Dawn) Hoppe, Juliann, Jay, Jason (Christina) Hoppe, nine great and step-great grandchildren, two step-great-great grandchildren and more dear friends than can be counted. She was preceded in death by her parents: Valentine and Margaret Capicik, her beloved husband: Orrin Sr., her four sisters and their husbands: Mary (John) Randa, Anna (Robert) Ponik, Josephine (Ralph) Herbst, Margaret (Ray) Powers and Little Angel Josephine Capicik, her much loved daughters-in-law: Mildred (Oesterich) Smith, Dorothy (Fleuter) Smith, sons-in-law: Verne Hoppe and Augie Potter, and great-nephew: John Hoppe. . Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 South First Street, Waterford, WI.
