Susan Marilyn Freeman (nee: Hoff)

Freeman, Susan M., age 75, of Waterford, passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on March 3, 2018. Susan was born to Harry and Mildred (nee. Hasselberg) Hoff on May 13, 1942 in St. Paul, MN. Susan graduated from Murray High School, St. Paul, MN in 1960. She then attended the University of Minnesota and Northwestern Hospital of Nursing, where she first met John E. Freeman and they were married on May 27, 1967. After graduation she began her career as a registered nurse at Northwestern Hospital where she excelled to the point where, after a few years, she was promoted to head nurse of a major medical/surgical station. She continued her nursing career after their move to Wisconsin in 1981. She eventually shifted her interests to breeding and caring for the couple’s dogs. They whelped around 25 litters of beautiful Golden Retriever puppies. She was very active in Badger Golden Retriever Club where she held many positions of responsibility. She also actively trained and showed the many pups that she could not bear to part with from each litter. Susan ”had a heart as big as all outdoors” and deeply cared for both animals and other people. She will be sorely missed by her husband, many relatives and friends.
Susan is survived by her husband of over 50 years John, and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Harry Jr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 2-3:00 PM in the Funeral Home, with services beginning at 3:00 pm. Memorials are suggested to “Hope Safe House”, 1911 Taylor Ave, Racine, WI 53403.
