Richard Neil Hinners

Hinners, Richard Neil, age 52, of Kansasville, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side January 28, 2022, at his residence. Rich was born to Richard and Carol (nee. Hickman) Hinners on June 25, 1969, in Racine, Wisconsin. Rich grew up in Little Prairie and graduated from East Troy High School. He then joined the Army and served his country for five years in Berlin, Germany, and Korea. Rich worked as a carpenter for Sasser & Roe before starting his own business. He met the love of his life, Marla Marie Smolensky, and were married at the “Chapel on the Hill” in Lake Geneva on April 1, 1995. Rich and Marla started their family in New Munster and later settled in their forever home that Rich built in Kansasville to raise their three kids. Rich w involved in his church “Chapel on the Hill” leadership, serving as an elder for several years. He was also a driver for “Inspiration Ministries”. Rich was a Boy Scout leader for several years and used his talent to help theater groups build new sets and repair the old ones. Rich was very involved in every aspect of his children’s lives and was very proud of what they’ve achieved. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of twenty-six years, Marla, three children, Riley, Hannah, and Lily; his mother Carol, two brothers, Dave (Maria), Dan (Sandy); three sisters, Deborah (Ray) Cukjati, Diana St. John, and Catherine Hinners; his mother-in-law, (Sharon Smolensky), and father-in-law (David Smolensky).
Preceded in death by his father, Richard, brother-in-law, Richard St. John, and his grandparents.
There will be a service for Rich on Saturday February 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM at “Chapel on the Hill”, N2440 Ara Glen Dr., Lake Geneva, WI 53147. All are welcome. Guests should be seated by 9:50 AM. Military Honors and a social hour to follow services will be held at the church. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy the family suggest memorials to the “Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic” at St. Luke’s Milwaukee or cancer fund of your choice.
