Richard F. (Dick) Drews Jr.
Of Rochester, WI passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023 at the age of 80. Dick was born in Milwaukee, WI on June 16, 1943. He lived in Belle Plaine, MN, La Crosse and New Berlin Wisconsin. He graduated Waukesha High School and attended Marquette University where he received his business degree in 1972.
Dick had a varied career working for JC Penney, Pepperidge Farm and Walmart. His love for dogs got him into the dog show world where he started his own company “Pooch Place.” He had a big following all over the Midwest by both dogs, people and beyond for his dog toys and dog bones among other things.
He retired from the dog show world and became a greeter at Walmart in New Berlin, where he once again made many friends.
He married the love of his life Trudy Koszuth in 1972. They owned two spoiled Samoyeds, Napoleon and Yukon-their favorite breed.
The family cottage, “Up North” in Pelican Lake Wisconsin was one of his favorite places where he’d pass the time fishing and playing cards. Dick and Trudy also traveled up north where they wrote reviews for restaurants. Jaycees worked into his life for several years, also.
In recent years, after Trudy passed their good friend Tom Horner invited Dick to join a Bible study where he found great comfort and fellowship. Dick’s kindness and gentle soul will be missed by all who knew him.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife Trudy, his parents Richard F. Sr and Frances A. Drews. He is survived by his sisters Barbara (Ron) Kahl of Burlington, WI and Deborah (Tom) Cook of Greenfield, MN along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 10:30AM-12PM Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Mealy-Stencel Funeral Home (225 W. Main St. Waterford, WI 53185), with a service to follow at 12PM. Interment St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church Cemetery.
