Paul Charles Maurer

Paul Charles Maurer, age 65, current resident of the Town of Norway and formerly of Oak Creek, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 2, 2025 due to Glioblastoma.

He was born on September 16, 1959, in Greendale, Wisconsin, to Charles Maurer and Cecilia (nee Peaschek) Maurer. On August 20, 1988, he was united in marriage to Susan Marie Burkhardt.

Paul was a resident of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, for 25 years before moving to the Town of Norway, where he spent 7 years. A chiropractor for the Aurora Healthcare Edgerton Clinic, Paul retired in 2024. He was formerly a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and currently of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Paul was a loving husband to his wife, Sue, for 36 years, a father to three wonderful sons, and an incredible friend. A published author, he additionally enjoyed running, long distance cycling, and working on the family’s hobby farm.

Survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Susan (nee Burkhardt) Maurer; sons Adam Maurer, Jeremy Maurer, and Luke Maurer; siblings Chris Maurer, Doug (Carol) Maurer, Mary (Danny) Maurer-Kirk, Amy (Jim) Burns, Stephen (Karen) Maurer, Pete (Sheila) Maurer, Charles (Donna) Maurer, Anna (Jeff) Richlen, and Julie (Angela) Maurer; father-in-law Richard Burkhart; sister-in-law Laurie (David) Straehler; 26 nieces and nephews; as well as many dear friends and coworkers.

Preceded in death by his father Charles, mother Cecilia, and mother-in-law Mary Ann Burkhardt.

Services will be held on Friday January 10th, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Faith Community (305 S 1st St, Waterford, WI 53185). Memorial visitation from 3 p.m. – 4:45 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 5 p.m. A gathering will be held at The Cotton Exchange following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paul’s name are appreciated to The Glioblastoma Foundation.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the neuro-oncology team at St. Luke’s Medical Center as well as the Aurora at Home Hospice team for their compassion and care.
