Paul J. Bussiere was born in Milwaukee on May 12, 1942. He proudly served his country in the Army and Air Force Reserve and served our community as a member of the Greenfield Fire Department for almost thirty years, retiring as a lieutenant. Years later, in retirement in Florida, he maintained what may be the ultimate Firefighter’s Man Cave in his home in Fort Myers Beach.
Paul was also something of an entrepreneur, coming to own George Webb franchises in Greenfield and Franklin as well as rental properties in Fort Myers Beach.
Beneath what was sometimes a “tough guy” exterior, Paul had a heart of gold. It would not be possible to recount here the favors – large and small – that he did for those who were close and sometimes not so close to him. There would not be enough space to recount the kindness with which he treated family, friends and colleagues.
Paul raised Rick and Theresa, the children of his first wife Louise Bussiere. They will miss the banner (“Hey Gladys …), both the solicited and unsolicited advice and the value of a love that was truly chosen.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. and Lorraine Bussiere and by his wife Barbara Gavin Bussiere. He is survived by his children Rick (Karen) Esenberg and Theresa (James) Flegel as well as grandchildren (Meggan (Eli Harz) Stolz, Christopher Esenberg and Andrew (Rachel) Flegel) and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved dog Lady (almost all of his dogs were “Lady”) who is safe with the family here in Wisconsin.
