Brown, Patricia “Pat” Kirstine (nee. Hansen) age 83, of Burlington, passed away May 30, 2022. Pat was born January 4, 1939, to the late Enid Addalyn (Griffin) and Joseph Thorvald Hansen on January 4, 1939, in Chicago, IL.
After an afternoon visit with all her children and grandchildren at Zilber Hospice, Pat passed away peacefully Memorial Day morning after a long struggle with cancer and heart disease.
Pat attended Lawrence University and the University of Denver, obtaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After college Pat married David Brown, and seven years later they moved to rural Lyons Township. David taught school while Pat was a homemaker and proprietor of the family rental real estate business for 56 years.
Pat treated everyone as persons of worth with equity, dignity, and respect. She believed in Women’s Rights and Democracy. Pat was a Scout leader for seven years, an Aurora Volunteer, Wisconsin Travel Bureau agent and an Old-World Wisconsin staffer. Pat raised three active Eagle Scouts and successful University men. She had a large garden with many ornamental plants. Pat was a member of the Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ in Burlington for over 40 years. She was widely traveled and an active achiever who: played bridge, sat on the Lakeland Audubon Society Board, the Burlington Genealogy Society and a Daughters of the American Revolution member.
Pat’s openness, charm, and sense of humor made everyone comfortable and made her very popular. She managed her affairs, so everyone felt satisfied with group decisions. Pat never said a bad word about anyone. She was creative, trustworthy, understanding, artistically talented, cordial and a pleasure to be with.
Pat is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, David, three sons: David, Mark, and Dan (Heather); and five grandchildren: Seth, Samantha, Nathan, Gabriel, and Caleb.
A Memorial Gathering will take place at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, 124 W. Washington St. Burlington, WI on Sunday June 26, 2022, from 11:30 AM to the start of the service at 12:15 PM. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, family would appreciate memorials in Pat’s name to Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, Love Inc, or the Milwaukee Rescue Mission.
