Michael Robert Olde
December 3, 1948 — March 5, 2024
- Michael Robert Olde, 75 from Waterford, Wisconsin passed away on March 5, 2024 from heart failure. Michael was proceeded in death by his father, Robert Olde and his mother, Lenore Olde. He is survived by Connie Eckert, his partner in life, Victoria, the mother of his two sons, his son Michael Ryan Olde, his daughter-in-law Genessa, his son Stephen Taylor Olde, his sister Mary Mitchell, his sister Jane Hamilton and husband, Mark Hamilton, four nieces and nephews and nine grand nieces and nephews.
Michael (Mike) was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 3, 1948. His father’s jobs had the family moving around the state as a boy and they ended up at Lake Lotawana when he was a young teenager. Being the oldest child of the family, he was a teaser to his younger sisters. He got a job at the marina in the summer working on boats, and delivering new boats from Kansas City. He loved the lake and in his adult life always wanted a chance to live on the water. He was an expert water skier and played a mean game of tennis. In 1971 Mike graduated from Central Missouri College with a degree in Marketing. He was due to be drafted for the Vietnam war. He had a friend in the same boat, and they took a three-week trip to California and back on their motorcycles. They arrived home to find out that the draft had been stopped.
Mike started his business career as a salesman and had a territory that consisted of several states. He did a lot of driving around the Midwest, and was an excellent candidate for this occupation due to his friendly, easy-going manner and great smile. He made a great first impression. He landed a job with a large company in the healthcare sector and was extremely successful, moving almost every two years as he developed his skills. He became a Region Manager, and promoted to Director of Sales, and VP of Sales over his career. His success was based on his friendly, honest approach to his customers. He retired in 2019 leaving behind a stellar reputation. In the last fifteen years, Mike had been living in the Racine area and met a great group of men. He fit easily into the group and they had weekly get togethers. They were tagged as the “Bromance Boys” by the wives and girlfriends due to their great friendship. Mike was a kindred spirit and shared stories of his childhood growing up Catholic serving mass and reliving his past. Several of his friends had the same passion for classic cars, classic boats and classic rock that Mike did. Every trip they took was filled with camaraderie. There will be an empty seat at the table where he will be sorely missed. Mike finally got his wish and he and Connie found a house on the water in Waterford, Wisconsin in 2016. The house has one of the best views looking out at the water all the way to Conservancy Bay on the Fox River. His memories of Lake Lotawana always came back to him and he made many wonderful memories on the Fox River and Lake Tichigan. They shared a little Cockapoo named Rooney who brought comfort and love to them. Michael was a good man. A man that had so much empathy, was always happy and totally fun to be around. One of his favorite songs was the Eagles “Boys of Summer”. He loved Wayfarer sunglasses. As a friend said, “Rest in peace my friend, may your spirit continue to rock in the great beyond”.
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Loves leaves a memory no one can steal.”
