Mr. Michael Lee McGinnis

Michael Lee McGinnis, 47, last residing in San Diego, California, formerly of Waterford and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2009. Michael was born on October 21, 1961, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Darwyn (Mac) and Gladys (Jenks) McGinnis. Michael attended schools in Minnesota, and Milwaukee. He was mechanically inclined and developed a back yard hobby of repairing bicycles. In his teen years he took part in road bike racing in the MIlwaukee area and also raced at the Kenosha Velodrome. In his late teens he and a partner opened a retail bike shop in Milwaukee. Michael moved to California in the late 80Â’s to take advantage of year-round biking. He traveled extensively around the US over the past years, enjoying hiking, biking, and camping. Michael is survived by his mother, Gladys, of Pewaukee, WI, siblings Craig Alan and Kathleen Diane, Aunt and Uncle Diane (Jenks) and Robert Hutchinson, along with other relatives and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents Duard and Sybil McGinnis and John and Lorraine Jenks. Private memorial services will be held at a later date with inurnment at a family gravesite in Minnesota.
