Michael W. Manicke

September 11, 1945 — July 3, 2017

Manicke, Michael W., age 71, of Waterford, passed away on July 3, 2017. Michael was born in Wausau, WI on September 11, 1945 to Walter and Gladys (nee. Rosentrator) Manicke. He proudly served his country for four years in the US Coast Guard. Upon his discharge he settled in Milwaukee in 1968 where he met Bonnie Lee Williams and they were married April 24, 1971 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wausau. They resided in Milwaukee before moving to Waterford where they have enjoyed life for 45 years. Michael enjoyed gardening, woodworking, camping, boating and fishing, cutting wood and his family. He was a kind and caring man who always put others before himself. He will be deeply missed.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 46 years: Bonnie, two children: Jamie Strommen and Ty (Kari) Manicke; four grandchildren: Taylor, Chaise, Halle and Eathon; two sisters: Lynn (John) Lensmire and Shirley Burish.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Karen.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday July 10, 2017 from 12-1:45 PM at Mealy Funeral Home, 225 W. Main St. Waterford, WI 53185. Committal service will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring St., Union Grove, WI 53182 at 3 PM. In Lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, Michael's family would appreciate donations made out to the Manicke family to be distributed as per his wishes.
