Mr. Melvin L. Hartfield

Hartfield, Melvin L., age 82, of Waterford (formerly of South Milwaukee) passed away April 24, 2014. He was born in South Milwaukee, the son of the late Fred and Daisy (nee. Zielke) Hartfield. After graduating high school, Mel proudly served his country in the Army. On February 12, 1955 he married Nancy A Dinkelman. They raised three children. Mel worked for the city of South Milwaukee in various duties and after retirement they moved to Waterford. For five months of the year, Mel and Nancy spent their winters in Florida, which they have done for the past 15 years. Mel enjoyed a good walk on the beach and he loved to ride his bicycle. Mel is survived by loving wife: Nancy; children: Steven (Debra), JoAnn (Greg) Pollesch and Kim (Ken) Quandt; grandchildren: Aaron, Daniel and Jason Hartfield, Sarah, Melissa and Bradley Pollesch, Noel, Adam and Trevor Quandt. Mel is survived by one brother: Glen; sisters and brothers-in-law: Diane (Donald) Scott, Michael (Georgia) Dinkelman and Gregory (Bonnie) Dinkelman; other relatives and friends. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014, 11:00 AM at Living Waters Lutheran Church, 6525 Milwaukee Avenue, (Hwy 36) Wind Lake. A Memorial Gathering with family and friends will be held prior to services on Friday, from 9-11 AM in Church. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy the family suggests memorials to Living Waters Church in memory of Mel. Family wishes to send a special "Thank You" to the EMTs and personnel from the Waterford Rescue and Fire for their care of our dear Melvin.
