Karraker, Louis Rendleman, Age 84, of Waterford, passed away on March 20, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born August 2, 1927 in Jonesboro, IL to Ira Oliver & Elsie Karraker. Louis served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Lake Champlain. Later, he started his career as a professor of U.S. History at Augustana College after working toward his PH.D. He went into business with careers at Parker Pen and American Appraisal where he served as Chief Operating Officer for a number of years. He then returned to academia as Business Manager at Concordia Lutheran College, Ann Arbor, MI. After retiring, Louis had a newspaper column entitled “The Conservative View” and had an avid interest in politics and religion while enjoying discussions and debates on both topics. He enjoyed watching sports and listening to music. He and Pat have been faithful and active members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for 20 years and have loved their retirement in Waterford. Louis is survived by his wife of almost 60 years: Patricia, his son: Alan (Kirsten), his daughter: Sharon (Craig) Cohen, and grandchildren: Kelsey, Austin, Kevin, Jeffrey and Lauren. Services will be held on Saturday, March 24th, 1:00 PM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 145 South 6th Street, Waterford. Visitation in church Saturday from 11-1 PM. Burial in the church cemetery following services.
