Janice A. Biermann

September 30, 1937 — March 20, 2024

Biermann, Janice Ann
(Nee Brown)

Found peace on March 20, 2024 at the age of 86 years. Beloved wife of the late Herbert Biermann. Loving mom of Ronald Saltzmann, Suzanne (Gary) Kastenson, Sandra (David) Ketteman, Solveig - AFS daughter from Norway, Sharon (Fred) Schraith, Synthia (David) Novara, Stephanie (Greg) McFadden. Proud grandma of Aaron, Eric (Laura), Dan (Chrissy), Keith (Emily), Amy (Matt), Kristina (Bryan), Emily, Dawson, Vanessa, Matthew, Timo - AFS grandson from Switzerland, Justin (Katelyn), Ryan (Narissa), Alyssa, Jacob, Nathan. Great-grandma of 20 and great-great-grandma of 2.

Dear sister of Diane Houk, Bill (Laurie) Brown and Doug Brown. Janice was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur and Myrtle (nee Schauwitzer) Brown, first husband Eugene Saltzmann, grandma Carrie Brown, step-mother Inez Brown and in-laws Pete Houk, Marvin and Barbara Saltzmann. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Beverly (Vernon) Reed and Arlene Bertelson, several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Janice Brown was born in Caldwell, WI on September 30, 1937 to Wilbur and Myrtle (Schauwitzer) Brown. Her mother died at a young age, so many of her early years were spent with “Grandma Brown” (Carrie Brown), Aunt Esther and her cousins. She spoke fondly of those days, along with her sister Diane.

In 1955 she married Eugene Saltzmann and raised their 6 children on the family dairy farm in Waterford, WI.  Once the children were in school, she took on part-time jobs, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Mt. Carmel Nursing home, then worked as a CNA, scheduler, and Unit Secretary at Burlington Memorial Hospital for 25 years. Throughout her years she was involved in 4-H with her children, served as a Leader for Norway 4-H, was active in Racine Farm Bureau, and Mothers Circle/ Ladies Aid with Norway Lutheran Church.

She married Herbert Biermann in 1995 and they moved to Albuquerque, NM in 2000. They started a respite care business for adults with special needs.  She provided loving care for others until she retired at 80 years old.  In 2017, they moved back to Muskego, WI to be closer to their family.

Janice (often called Jan or Janny) loved life, caring for others, caring for her dogs, and cherished the time with her family and friends.  She loved singing songs and ALWAYS had a story to tell - oh how we all loved her stories, especially the grandchildren. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, and friend with a kind, beautiful soul that will be sadly missed by all.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Elizabeth Residence in Franklin where Janice resided for the last 2 years.

Visitation will be held from 9 AM - 10:45 AM on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Norway Lutheran Church (6321 Heg Park Rd. Wind Lake, WI 53185), with the funeral service at 11 AM, followed by a luncheon at the church. Burial at Caldwell Cemetery at 2 pm.
