Jack C. Davis Jack, age 83, passed away March 27th, 2011. His wife and family were with him at the time. He was born December 31st, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Louis C. and Vera T. Davis Jack graduated from Senn High School in Chicago in 1944. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy, and proudly served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Subsequently he graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in Ceramic Engineering. In the early 50’s Jack’s work brought him to the Milwaukee area, where he lived and worked for the remainder of his life. Of all his many jobs in research and development and manufacturing in the ceramic industry, he is most proud of his time as VP of Manufacturing for Globe Union, in Milwaukee and being the original owner and founder of Lakewood Filters. For years, Jack and Jean especially enjoyed traveling around the country attending many jazz festivals. He served for many years as President of Jazz Unlimited, of Milwaukee. Jack also enjoyed golfing, as a prior member of Tuckaway Country Club, skiing, hunting, traveling and he had an abiding love affair with the magic and excitement of Las Vegas. His passing will leave many hearts saddened. His ready and engaging smile for all he met will be long remembered, along with his wry humor and quirky way of seeing something humorous in almost every situation. It has been said, “He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has enjoyed the trust and respect of others and the love of little children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it; who has always looked for the best in others and given the best he had.” He is survived by his wife, Jean, his sister Joan E. Cohn of Los Angeles, stepson Robb (Julie) Westphal, grandson Josh Paur, and Jean’s sister, Barbara (Tony) Mahler of Auburndale, WI. He is also survived by a daughter from a previous marriage, Marilyn Davis Green, and three grandchildren, Tracie, Jordan and Blake. Private interment was held at Rienzi Cemetery, Fond du Lac, WI.
