Atchley, Helen (nee.Mardula) age 93, passed away peacefully at Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove, Wisconsin on Sunday, January 19, 2019. The last ten years of her life were spent in Wisconsin near her sister Agnes Trutty and niece Janet Klein. She spent thirty-six years with her husband George Atchley in Duluth, Minnesota, where they merrily entertained family and friends at their delightful cottage on Sunset Lake. Before her marriage to George, Helen had lived and worked in her birthplace, Uniontown, Pennsylvania and in Akron, Ohio during World War II and after the war in Chicago and Miami where she met George. The couple loved to travel across the USA, visiting far flung families and casinos, caring for children. Her favorite charities were the Special Olympics and the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
She will be mourned by her friends and family including nieces: Jan Klein of Wisconsin, Pat Trutty-Coohil of New York, nephews: Dennis Dobbeck of California, Roy Wayne Albrecht of Illinois and Steve Mardula of Illinois.
Private inurnment will take place in the summer of 2019 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Duluth, MN.
