Heinrich, Gilbert M., age 87, of Muskego, died peacefully at Manor Care in Pewaukee on Thursday March 17, 2016. He was born on March 18, 1928 in Burlington, the eldest son of Walter and Augusta Heinrich.
A dairy farmer by trade, Gilbert lived his entire life on the family homestead. He married Betty Busch on May 17, 1952 and they raised five children, enjoying a 55 year marriage until her death June 25, 2007. After their twins were born in 1972, Gilbert began a 35 year career selling pole buildings to support his family and supplement the farm income. In his later years, he was often found driving his John Deere Gator and offering rides to his grandchildren on the family property. He was a fun-loving, hard-working and devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed classic television shows, polka music and a good joke.
Gilbert is survived by his children: Frank (Linda) Heinrich of Muskego, Cheryl Heinrich of Muskego, Laurie (Steve) Gonring of Slinger, Tim (Jana) Heinrich of Madison, and Tammy (Chuck) Jakobi of New Berlin. He had nine grandchildren: Danielle (Nick) Komater; Darin Heinrich; Blake and Breanna Gonring; Brooke, Brittany and Bridget Jakobi; Caitlin and Claire Heinrich; and one great-granddaughter: Rawson Komater. He is further survived by a sister Dolores (Harvey) Kroening of Germantown, a brother Harold (Dorothy) Heinrich of New Berlin, a brother-in-law Jim (Arlene) Busch of Waukesha, a sister-in-law Kathy Busch of Muskego, as well as many nieces, nephews and long-time friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Betty, brother-in-law Frank Busch Jr., sister-in-law Lorraine Busch, and many four-legged friends who were his trusted companions on the farm.
Gilbert's family would like to give special thank you for the compassion of the nurses from Heartland Hospice and the care provided by the staff of Manor Care in Pewaukee where Gilbert lived his final months.
Visitation will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday March 23, 2016 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon with services at Noon. A private burial will take place at St. Martin of Tours Cemetery in Franklin.
