Frances “Fran” M. Mainus

Mainus, Frances M., age 84, of Waterford, passed away at home from cancer on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. 

Fran was born December 3, 1939 on the Twin Silo Farm in Waterford, the daughter of the late John William and Stella (nee. Czapowski) Schmidt. Fran attended St. Thomas Graded School and graduated from Waterford Union High School. 

Fran married Stanley J. Mainus at St. Thomas Aquinas Church October 9, 1965. She became a cosmetologist after high school working at various salons throughout her career. She was also a teacher’s aide at St. Thomas Aquinas Graded School and then at Waterford Union High School. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was a member of the Holy Sewers. Fran was involved in 4H with her sons and became the general leader for The Norway 4H Club. 

Fran is survived by her two sons: Steve of Muskego and Tom (Dawn) of Waterford, one granddaughter: Courtney (Curtis) Schwab of Delafield. She is further survived by her siblings Betty Felten, Jim (Pam) Schmidt, Rosie (Russ) Storm, Rick Schmidt as well as her in-laws Randy Storm and Barbara Schmidt along with other nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. 

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter in law Mary (Lufkin) Mainus, siblings Barb Saltzmann, Sharon Storm and Jerry Schmidt; and brother in laws Marv Saltzmann and Don Felton.

Memorial visitation will be held 1PM-2:45PM Friday, September 6, 2024 at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC FAITH COMMUNITY (305 S. 1st. Street, Waterford, WI 53185), with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 3PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
