Dassow, Duane Dale, age 82, of Waterford, died May 12, 2020 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Duane was born in Perkinstown, WI to Bernard and Elaine (nee. Fischer) on February 4, 1938. Duane was a lifelong Wisconsin resident, he lived on the family farm in Whittlesey and graduated from Medford High School in 1956. He moved to Milwaukee to find employment and was hired by Pfister Vogel Tannery. At a country western dance hall in Muskego on Hillendale Drive Duane met the love of his life, Peggy Lee Armstrong. They were married in Milwaukee on September 28, 1968. They moved to their waterfront home on Tichigan Lake in 1972, where they raised their family and lived for over thirty-five years. On Duane’s sixty-second birthday he went to work at the tannery as he had done for forty-four years only to find himself locked out; the tannery had closed its doors. Duane took a job at Thomas Bus Co. in Waterford (now Dousman Bus Co.) where he drove for seventeen years. He knew everyone he transported by their first names and they called him grandpa. Duane was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for forty-eight years, served on several boards and was a greeter and usher. He knew every member by name and would write new members names in a little book so he could remember them as he introduced them to others. Duane also loved to play cribbage, sheepshead, and dart-ball with several groups, but his favorite past time was fishing. While working for Dousman Bus Co. Duane and Peggy moved to their current location on Maple Drive. Now he will be going home to heaven, his final resting place. He will truly be missed.
Duane is survived by his loving wife Peggy, children, Douglas, Steve (Lori), Brian, Dionn, and Jessie; grandchildren, Christian, Daniel, Julie (Brad) Dillingham, Terry, Monica (Oleg) Novak, Brian Jr., Dustin (Corrine) Kapellusch, Hunter, and Tera; two great-grandchildren, Conrad and Clara; four brothers, Harvey (Arlene), Garry, Everett, Delmar (Helen); other relatives and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Larry (Anna Mae) and Eugene.
