Gaskill, Donald W. Of Waterford, Passed away Saturday February 10, 2007 at Clement J. Zablocki VA Hospital in Milwaukee at age 78. Born June 7, 1928 in LaCrosse, WI to Edna (nee. Burand) and Douglas Gaskill. His early years were spent in the LaCrosse area. In July of 1948 he enlisted in the Army and in July 1949 he transferred to the U.S. Air Force. His various assignments and duties covered England, Germany, Turkey, Pakistan, Greece and a limited time in 18 other countries. He meet his wife Ursula in Berlin, Germany in 1949. They were married at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in LaCrosse on the13th of March 1952. Donald served 1 year in the Army, 23 years in the U.S. Air Force Medical Service’s and an additional 6 years in military security. Don was medically retired on the 30th of June 1972 as a Master Sergeant. His awards include: Army and Air Force Good conduct Ribbons with 4 clusters, European Occupation ribbon, Berlin Airlift Devise, Medal for Human Action, National Defense Ribbon & Unit citation for outstanding achievement. Donald was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Waterford. Family would like to send a Special Thank You to the Union Grove VA Clinic - Dr’s and staff along with the VA Hospital of Milwaukee Dr’s and Staff for their special care of Donald these past few weeks. He is survived by one sister Carol (Ray) Schober of Leopolis, WI, two nephews, one niece, and 2 grandnieces, other relatives and friends. Proceeded in death by his beloved wife Ursula on 5th of July 2002, his parents and his brother Robert. Services Wednesday February 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Frederick Bischoff officiating. Visit with the family in the funeral home 10:30-11:00 A.M. Wednesday. Burial with full military honors will take place following services. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Waterford.
