Mr. Donald "Pete" Cornelius

Donald R. (Pete) Cornelius, 82, Waterford, died 11/27/10, at Brookfield Rehabilitation Center. He was born May 3, 1928 in Wisconsin the son of the late Fred and Elizabeth (nee.Smith) Cornelius and spent his entire life in the Waterford area. He graduated from Waterford High School in 1947, and was a member of Community United Methodist Church of Waterford. He spent two years in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He married Jean Schwedler in a candle-light ceremony on April 30, 1955 at Waterford Methodist Church. Jean preceded him in death September 8, 2007. Pete spent his early working years as a painter but later as a machinist in Milwaukee and Racine. According to his family, Pete enjoyed working in his yard in the summer and socializing with his friends. Survivors include his nephews, Gary (Pam) Petersen and Michael Cornelius, nieces Pam Wiess, Sheila Rhoden, and Sandy Ellertson, sisters-in-law Nancine Cornelius and Shirley Gulick, great nieces, great nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his parents, Brother Warren, Sister Suzie Bannach, nieces Sharon Walker and Kerry Steinhouer. Funeral services will be held Saturday December 4th 11:00 AM at Mealy Funeral Home, Waterford, with John Wulz officiating. Visitation Saturday 10-10:45, Interment will be 1:00 Saturday at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, WI. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Community United Methodist Church.
