Hying, Deacon Joseph H. “Joe”, age 83, of Waterford, entered into the fullness of eternal life with his loving family by his side on Saturday, August 3, 2013. Joe was born on May 10, 1930 in Richland County, WI, the son of the late Joseph H. Hying and Magdalena Kruel. He spent his early life in Wisconsin, Missouri and Iowa and studied with the Redemptorist Fathers for 8 years. On April 8, 1961, in New Haven, Iowa he married his dear wife of 52 years, Donna M. Birkholz. They had ten children. Joe was a graduate of Loras College and attended many graduate studies. He taught social studies and Latin at the high school level for 9 years in Iowa and for 24 years at Waterford Union High School. His greatest passion came in serving his Catholic faith, family and friends. Joe was an Ordained Catholic Deacon at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish for many years, serving family and faith. Joe is survived by his dear wife: Donna, nine children: Gerard of Waterford, Clement of Menomonee Falls, Peter of Waterford, Janet (Stanley) Blanco of Milwaukee, Catherine (John) Czarny of Greendale, Martin of Racine, Daniel (Jennifer) of Franksville, Emmett (Liesl) of Whitewater and John (Jessica) of DeForest. Surviving grandchildren: Gerard’s children: Scott and Erin Hying, Clem’s children: Zachary and Skyler Hying, Catherine’s child: Ashley Kempken, Martin’s child: Jillian Hying, Daniel’s children: Luke, Noah and Grace Hying. Joe is further survived by his brother and sister: Clete (Joanne), Mary (Bob), sisters-in-law: Bernadette and Phyllis, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Edward, brothers: Sebastian, Wilburt, Elmer, Louie, Leo and Eugene, sister Magdaline, sisters-in-law: Sally, Coletta, and Donna, brother-in-law: John. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, 6:00 PM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 South First Street (Hwy 20), Waterford, WI with Bishop Donald Hying officiating. Visitation in Church on Wednesday from 3:00 PM until 5:30 PM. Burial in St. Thomas Cemetery 10 AM on Thursday, August 8, 2013, please meet at the cemetery. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, his family suggests memorials be made to either the Redemptorist Retreat Center (Oconomowoc), St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, or St. Vincent de Paul.
