David Novaez/Kristin (Tielens) Novaez, Novaez, David and Kristin (nee.Tielens) of the Town of Wheatland, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 due to a motorcycle accident in Kenosha County. David, Age48 was born in Illinois on June 24, 1963, son of Anthony and Marion (nee.Stegenga) Novaez. Kristin, Age 36, was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on June 8, 1975, daughter of Jesse and Barbara (nee. Veriha) Tielens. David spent his early life in Dalton, Illinois. He graduated Illini Christian High School in Lansing. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Hope College in Holland Michigan and obtained his Masters Degree at National Lewis College. Kristin spent her early life in Oconto, Wisconsin. She graduated Salutorian of her class at Oconto High School. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at UW Oshkosh and a Master’s degree in Music at UW Milwaukee. David and Kristin met while they both sang with the Milwaukee Symphony Choir, a love they always shared. They were married on December 27, 2003. Kristin was the Choir Director at Union Grove High School. She was a band and choir director at Pewaukee High School prior to Union Grove. David was a teacher at Central High School in Salem, Wisconsin, where he taught German. They were classically trained pianists. As members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Waterford, Kristin played the organ for services and David was a former elder and both deeply involved in the church. They enjoyed L.A.H. war re-enactments of the Civil War and WWII. Kristin and David enjoyed so many things together, bike riding, water skiing and downhill skiing. They loved life and after almost 8 years of marriage they acted like newlyweds, but most of all they deeply loved each other. David served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps reserve’s for over 12 years. He earned the title of Captain, many of his students referred to him as Captain Novaez. Kristin was a contestant in the Miss Wisconsin Pageant where she promoted her own platform of “Heart to Heart” which promotes Organ and Tissue donation. Kristin and her family chose to donate her tissue so that 60 other people could benefit. They are survived by David’s mother: Marion of Tinley Park, Illinois; Kristin’s parents: Jesse and Barbara Tielens of Oconto, Wisconsin; her sister: Cheryl Tielens; her brother Anthony (Robin) Tielens, niece: Hazel, Nephew: Griffin, many aunts, uncles, other relatives and countless friends. They are preceded in death by David’s father: Anthony, Kristin’s grandparents: Anthony (Lottie) Veriha and Esther Tielens Visitation will take place on Friday, October 14th from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 PM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 145 South 6th Street, Waterford. Services will begin at 4:30 PM. Private Burial will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorial gifts to: “Scholarship Fund” to help assist student’s whom shall pursue a music career.
