Mekemson, Daniel J. 76, passed away peacefully in his home on December 30, 2020 surrounded by his family.
Loving husband of his wife of 43 years Jaclyn Mekemson (nee: Behm); Beloved son of the late John "Ed" and Irja Heitenan Mekemson. Devoted father of Mike (Donna), Matt (Leah), Kristen (Neil Rossman), and Andrew (Kallie). Treasured grandfather of Breanna, Morgan, Lacey, Luke, Harper, Molly, and Holland. Esteemed brother of James. Cherished cheerleader of all.
Dan worked in the mortgage business for forty-four years helping people achieve the dream of homeownership. He believed wholeheartedly that mortgages change lives. Having benefited from strong mentorship, Dan gave back in spades, developing people, careers, business and friendships. He had the ability to bring out the best in people. His leadership style was marked by quality, discipline, setting big goals and celebrating success.
An avid golfer, a food connoisseur, a voracious reader, he shared his zest for life with all he met. Above all, Dan found joy in his family. He reveled in the life he built with Jacki, enjoying his kids and grandkids thoroughly. He lived a full life, despite obstacles, and has given unconditional love, encouragement and opportunity to those around him. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, intelligence, resilience, positivity, work ethic, kindness, generosity, and deep love. He succeeded in all measures that count - he lived a life that made a difference and he lived well. We will carry his heart in ours.
A celebration honoring Dan's life will be held on Saturday, July 31 from 10:30-10:50 am with service starting at 11 am at Norway Lutheran Church 6321 Heg Park Rd. Wind Lake, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dan's name can be made to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association (wiparkinson.org; 16655 W. Bluemound Road, Ste 330, Brookfield, WI 53005).
