Chris Calewart

July 5, 1961 — September 26, 2024

Chris Marvin Calewart, of Wind Lake, WI, 63 years of age, passed away at home on Thursday, September 26, after a courageous 12-year battle with brain cancer. Born on July 5, 1961 in Milwaukee, WI to Marvin and Dorothy (nee Neumann) Calewart. Attended New Berlin Eisenhower High School and went on to work for the US Postal Service until he medically retired. 

On March 13, 1993 he married Kim Soderstrom and they built a house in Wind Lake a few years later. As a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Chris will be remembered for his devotion to his family, faith, and Wisconsin sports. Chris also touched the lives of many youth athletes through his multiple coaching experiences. His positive outlook on life, partnered with his strong faith in Jesus, was evident to everyone he met, even after his medical hardships began.

Preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Dorothy Calewart and his father-in-law Merl “Sod” Soderstrom. Survived by his wife of 31 years, Kim, mother-in-law Ione (nee Johnson) Soderstrom, children Kristin (Daniel) Hill and Trevor Calewart, 2 grandchildren, Elsie and Ada Hill, siblings Craig (Carol Lewandowski) Calewart, Cherie Calewart, Punz (Carl) Wolfe, Diane (John) Lopac, and Joni (Jeff) Jahnke, brother-in-law Reed (Randi) Soderstrom and sister-in-law Karin (Marshall) Heitzman, nieces and nephews Melody, Cody, Allison (Seth), Paige, Clayton, Jordan (Cameron), Brady (Annie), Kendall, Sydney (Ryan), Calvin, and Peyton.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 19, in the chapel at Discover Church (7311 South 13th Street, Oak Creek, WI 53154). Visitation will be from 9AM-10:45AM with an 11:00AM service and a lunch to follow. Please enter through door #3 on the north side of the church.

Special thanks to the staff of Aurora Home Hospice for their incredible care, support, and compassion during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations to World Challenge or the missions’ program at Discover Church would be appreciated.
