Miller, Cheryl Dee (nee. Rueffel), age 83, of Waterford, passed away peacefully at home on December 4, 2022. Cheryl was born to Charles and Dessie (nee. Gibson) Rueffel on September 18, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the Oelwein, Iowa area. She continued her education at Cornell College and was a member of Kappa Theta Sorority. While attending college Cheryl met the love of her life in Mervel Edwin Miller. They were married August 9, 1959, in Oelwein and subsequently moved to Palatine, Illinois to start their careers and family. The Millers moved to Waterford in 1993. Cheryl’s most rewarding occupation was as an educational assistant to special needs children. An avid reader and storytelling letter-writer, she also loved to play the piano and travel. Cheryl and Merv spent summers in Ontario, Canada, helping to run a large fishing camp, then later in life wintered at their home in the Florida Keys. Cheryl was a strong, compassionate person and loved animals (a known chipmunk whisperer). Cheryl’s love for her family was her greatest gift. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
