Mr. Charles J. Gerds

Gerds, Charles J., died at home in Waterford on July 25, 2014 at the age of 75, after an 11 month battle against metastasizing colon cancer. He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Penny, his daughters: Gretchen von Moritz and Jordana (Eric) Wells and grandchildren: Roman Gunderson and Whitney Gunn. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Elizabeth Ann.
Charles was a 20 year Air Force veteran, serving as a weapons control systems technician, fixing airplanes in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Germany and England, as well as countless stateside bases. After his military service, he worked in the Brew House at Miller Brewing Company for 17 years.
Charles loved growing vegetables, sunrises and his daughters.
Following his wishes, he was cremated and buried at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, in a private service. Special thanks to all the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic of Burlington and the Aurora Visiting Nurse Home Hospice wonderful people. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Mealy Funeral Home of Waterford.
