Mrs. Catherine Zahn Swain

Swain, Catherine A. Zahn Swain, age 91, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2012 at Waterford Senior Living. She was born in Flint Michigan on January 1, 1921 the daughter of the late Harvey and Wilmetta (nee. Andrix) Hood. After graduating high school, she received her Geology degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She married Edward J. Zahn Jr. on November 13, 1943, and he passed away on October 5, 1962. On December 31, 1964 she married Charles C. Swain, whom has preceded her in death on January 15, 1992. She had been a resident of Burlington since 1976. Catherine was a homemaker and worked at the Burlington Junior High School as an Assistant in the Guidance Department and Library. She was a member of St. John the Divine Church in Burlington. According to her family she was an avid reader. She is survived by her children: Edward J (Kelli) Zahn, Catherine (Richard) Bauman, Russell H. Zahn, Jeffrey (Kristen) Zahn, Charles (Tina) Swain, Colleen (Darrell) Eisenhardt and Terry Traynor, fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, cousins: Michael Andrix, Pattie Hoag and Tom Andrix, other relatives and friends Preceded in death by her parents, and her first and second husbands: Edward J. Zahn Jr. and Charles C. Swain. Services will be held on Monday ,July 16, 2012 at 2:00 PM at St. John the Divine Church, 216 East Chandler Blvd, Burlington, WI. Visitation with family on Monday in Church from 1-2 PM. Inurnment will be in the Church’s columbarium wall. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials to either: St. John the Divine Church or Waterford Senior Living would be appreciated.
