Arlene Mae Jensen

August 23, 1936 — October 29, 2024

Arlene Mae Jensen was a beloved grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 88 years of life. She passed away peacefully, yet brokenhearted, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. She joins her husband, Don, in heaven just 5 weeks after they celebrated a grace-filled marriage of 69 years.

Arlene was born August 23, 1936 to Ruda and Ralph Maass. She and Don were married on September 24, 1957 and honeymooned in Niagara Falls. Her final months were spent in Waterford, but she called Waukesha her home where she and Don raised their family and graciously opened their home to many family members and friends. After raising her children, she worked at Generac for many years, then retired with Don in 1993. They both enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida.

Arlene was the heart and soul of her family. She had a calming, supportive presence, and a sweet nature beyond compare. Her life centered on caring for her children and grandchildren. Her heart was full when she had a houseful of grandchildren; babies made her heart melt. Arlene and Don were also the biggest cheerleaders of their family, never missing a parade, play, baseball game, gymnastics meet, or basketball game.

Arlene was the loving mother to her children, Diane Spanaus, Donna (Brian) Bennetts, and Pam (Jeff) Selz. She was the proud grandma of Tyler Spanaus, Heidi Bennetts (Hector Prada), Corey Bennetts (Noah Armstrong), Alyse (Matt) Weinheimer, and Drew Selz; and the proudest great grandma to Coralyn, Lila, Nora and Charlie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jensen and son-in-law, Dennis Spanaus, whom she held close to her heart. She is survived by many other close relatives and friends who provided steadfast support throughout the last few years.

Arlene and Don’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Waterford Senior Living & Memory Care for such genuine care and compassion.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cotton Exchange Plantation Hall (345 Hickory Hollow Rd., Waterford, WI 53185). Visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Luncheon to follow.
